We build bridges over barriers to provide arts for all.
At Downstage Arts, we believe that any student who wishes to participate in the performing arts should have the access and support they need to be successful.
This free class for high school juniors and seniors will dissect different parts of the college audition process. Our weekly meetings will focus on finding schools that students are interested in, preparing audition material, filming self tapes and honing individual skills. Students will leave the class feeling confident and ready to conquer any situation a higher education audition might throw their way. Our yearly sessions culminate in a showcase to celebrate the artistry of our cohort, hosted by Broadway star Desi Oakley.
The DSA Difference
Individual & Group Coaching
We work with our students one on one and in group settings to get to know them. We know that auditioning is a vulnerable process, so we ensure that their true self is always honored.
College Program Knowledge
We empower our students to take charge of their college admission experience by teaching them and their families about all of their program options.
Mentorship
Our team of experts is with our students every step of their journey; from choosing schools all the way through decision day.
Artistic
Community
We encourage our students to widen their horizons and have multiple interests when they go to school. Trying new things and keeping an open mind helps them discover who they are as artists.
100% of our students are placed in at least one of their top 5 schools.
Teen Cohort Alumni
Testimonials
“[In the cohort] you're all collectively learning how to be better humans…I think in that space of becoming a better actor, you become a better human because you can become more self aware. Even if you don't want to take up acting in the future, just [join the Teen Cohort], because it will help you become way more enlightened in your own life. I've become way more vulnerable as a person and I've become more emotionally aware. [Downstage Arts] is just such a beautiful place. I'd tell [anyone wondering if they should join], if you want to go somewhere where you're just wanting to be unconditionally loved and taught how to become a better person, go there.”

“This program prepares you so well for college. One of the instructors would always reach out to me to make sure I was feeling confident, and offer as much time as I needed to feel successful. I knew they really cared about me as an individual. If you are passionate, they will do whatever it takes to get you to your dream.”
- Abbie, class of ‘21
“I needed help navigating through the [college application and audition] process: the process is so stressful, every school has different requirements, and Downstage Arts helped me navigate that.”
